Life's Most Important Question - Grylls v. Stroud
Really. All the media talk is centered around climate change, the economic recession, and the upcoming Presidential election.
So, I thought I could cover one of those important stories that often gets overlooked. Who is the Ultimate Survivor?
Is it Les Stroud who claims to be the Survivorman or is it (I swear I'll name my child this) Bear Grylls host of Discovery Channel's Man Vs. Wild?
So who are we dealing with, you ask? Here's the quick rundown:
Les Stroud
Age: 45
Strengths: Knows how to be truly alone...Great at finding food...Starts fires from practically nothing...great in cold weather
Weaknesses: His age (above)...struggles in warmer climates
Bear Grylls
Age: 33
Strengths: Can climb practically anything...can, and often will, eat anything...former member of the British Special Forces
Weaknesses: Not as cautious as he often should be...struggles to make fire without flint
Seeing as there is no great way to test this without actually putting both guys out in the middle of no where and setting a destination, I guess this will have to be up to a vote.
Whatcha think?

Life's Most Important Question - Grylls v. StroudStroud is a much better survivor. Grylls is more entertaining, sometimes laughing with him, sometimes at him. |

Life's Most Important Question - Grylls v. StroudI agree that Grylls is the more entertaining, but I don't know if Stroud is acually better at surviving. Maybe one day they'll have a "Survive Face-Off" on Discovery Channel where they actually give them a destination and each bowie knife and some flint. That's great television, if you ask me. |

Life's Most Important Question - Grylls v. StroudThe 'face-off' is a good idea. Stroud's age would work against him in some scenarios. Grylls seems like more of a risk-taker than Stroud too. But, if I had to pick one or the other to go with on a survival week somewhere, I'd pick Stroud in a second. |

Life's Most Important Question - Grylls v. Stroudles stroud by about 10 miles.....he doesnt have a crew with him number 1...number 2 at the beginning of survivor man a small text at the bottom of the screen doesnt appear stating that bear is presented with certain situations in the show so he can show you what to do....which basically means half of the show is contrived...plus les stoud stays out a week and lugs all his own camera gear around....yeah bear sounds much cooler when he says glacier(glassier) in his english accent...but if i was stuck in the woods with someone id want it to be les...... |
