Backmasking - A Hoax?

A thing of the 70's? A lie of the 70's? I always thought so. But THIS website may have changed my mind.

Created by Jeff Milner, while experimenting with a Flash program, this site allows you to listen to to original segment of song and then the "reverse track."

Some of the songs in question are a bit fishy as far as the accuracy of the supposed lyrics, but others are dead on (hence - the intentional ones).

Back in the day, this was a big issue. People, specifically Bible Belt, Anti-Rock Music pastors said that this was Satan's way of getting involved in our lives and sending subliminal messages. Personally, I think that may be a little too much, but weird none the less.

Check it out! And I expect to be the "Klick of the week," Kay!

I also like "My Name is..."

Sounds pretty close to accurate.

That is some pretty weird stuff. I wasnt alive in the 70s but wow that is scary. Break on Through, Nature Trail to Hell, and Kiss,Kiss,Kiss are accurate. Really weird.

Backmasking - A Hoax?

Some were made on purpose when the craze was first beginning. I wasn't alive back then either, but I've heard about it.

From all I've heard, the "Stairway to Heaven" clip was completely unintentional. And with lyrics like:

Oh here's to my sweet Satan.
The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan.
He will give those with him 666.
There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan.

That's some pretty heavy stuff. Sends chills down my spine. Kinda like that A Haunting show on the Discovery Channel.

Backmasking - A Hoax?

If you do a bit of research, you may find that this is picking up the popularity it had 30 years ago. I assume it's just the "wow factor" that's expressed (like vikings, above) that's caused the spark in interest, but who knows. Maybe divine intervention... ...Nah...doubt it.

Yea I googled the Pink Floyd one and found that was intended. That other one though that you have is amazing. How could that happen?

Backmasking - A Hoax?

Great blog!  This stuff is of great interest to me.  I know for a fact (?) that there are "print throughs" on Led Zeppelin's first two LP releases.  The best of audio fidelity was, in that era, found to be available only on the first generation of "metal" tapes.  Traveling at a fast pace of 30 IPS over a fat head still created gobs of spurious noise.  The sole available noise reduction system was dbx.  I still use it and like it--with today's tapes.  The late 60's and early 70's tapes matching that new high bias were thin, TDKs, I think.  The speed over a rough head(s) plus the thinness of the tape created what many listeners assumed was an odd reverb.  It was simply a later repeat recording of earlier, by about 1 to 1.25 sec., sounds of the same recording session.  I thought that it was far-out, man!

Please correct me if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Backmasking - A Hoax?

A correction of my earlier post that is probably incorrect, too.  The "repeat recording of earlier sounds of the same recording"  was not delayed by "about 1 to 1.25 sec.".  It was longer.

I'm here to address the issues. There's children on the street using guns and knives. Taking drugs and each other's lives. Killing each other with knives and forks. Calling each other names like 'dork'. There's people on the street getting diseases from monkeys. Yeah, that's what I said - they're getting diseases from monkeys. Now there's junkies with monkey disease. Who's touching these monkeys, please leave these poor sick monkeys alone they've got problems enough as it is.
